Almond Beach Club

Watching the sun set over the Caribbean from the beachfront terrace is an unforgettable daily ritual at the Almond Beach Club and Spa. Of course a walk along the beachfront at that time of day is a nice alternative. Luxury in a relaxed atmosphere is found at this all inclusive resort in St. James on Barbados’ west coast, renowned for its serenity. The sense of peace and quiet is enhanced as all rooms face the sea or a central courtyard garden of constantly manicured orchids, frangipani, cordia, African tulips, pandanos, pride of Barbados, and palms or overlook the Caribbean. The resort is reserved for adults only (16 and over) and caters to the relaxation and rejuvenation of its guests. Its newly opened sister resort The Almond Casuarina Beach Resort in St Lawrence Gap includes activities for families including a Kids Club for children and youths.

Waking to the gentle sounds of nature and a morning dip in the sea, and excellent meals are some of the simple everyday pleasures of your stay.

Above and beyond are the services available at the Spa - massage, hydrotherapy, body treatments, men’s and women’s facials, waxing, and hair and nail care (surcharges) and provides saunas and steam rooms. Treatment options include Thalasso therapy algae and seaweed baths, couples massage, aroma therapy salt scrubs, and body wraps (surcharges). There is also a well equipped gym.

The resort also provides a variety of water sports activities, sailing and snorkeling for example, island tours and transportation into Bridgetown shopping destinations.  The islands best golf courses are close by. The picturesque fishing village of Hometown where some of Zagats highest rated restaurants can be found is just up the road.  One of the features the staff is most proud of is its commitment to sustainable and green tourism. The resort has had Green Globe certification since 1999. Summer visitors may find special savings deals, go to http://www.almondresorts.com for information on availability, weddings or meetings, and other Almond Resorts.

Hilton Barbados

The new Hilton, anticipated and debated, and celebrated proves that change does not have to destroy the past. The harmonious balance of culture and nature, past and future is an ideal achieved at this sparkling new resort.  The Hilton was there 36 years ago at the time of the new country's independence, so the opening of the new Hilton Barbados, in the same location as the original, feels to many like the return of an old friend. Of course, a lot has changed since then and the new hotel offers services only recently available making it an ideal destination for business travelers and those who must stay connected as well as those who are traveling to get away from it all.

The relaxed warmth and natural beauty of Barbados shines at the new Hilton.  You will be greeted on arrival with a smile, a cold drink and a cool towel, the airy spacious lobby faces the sea, your room will overlook secluded white sand beaches on either side of Needham Point and sitting on the balcony is an ideal way to enjoy the sunset over the Caribbean or to listen to the sound of crickets and gently breaking waves in the evening.

Need ham Point, juts out into the Caribbean from Barbados south coast, on the spot where for centuries a lighthouse guided sailing vessels. Twenty minutes from the airport and with the lights of Bridgetown twinkling at the opposite end of Carlisle Bay the location is ideal for those seeking to enjoy the island's culture.

The 350 rooms include 33 suites and 77 executive rooms. All face the sea and offer sweeping views from private balconies. For those who must stay connected, all rooms also feature high speed internet access, two line speaker phones with data port and cable TV. Guests on the Executive floor enjoy access to the Executive Lounge and an unparalleled view of Carlisle Bay. Children have their own lounge, the Kidz Paradise Club.

Hilton Barbados features 14,000 square feet of modern meeting and banquet space with a capacity for up to 400 people including an exhibition centre and 4000 square foot Meetings complex. Wireless internet access is available in all public areas and the Business Centre is just steps away on the ground level.

Dining at the Hilton can be as simple as enjoying international tapas (local contributions include salt fish fritters, jerk pork tenderloin cubes, West Indian chicken wings and smoked marlin with Pineapple and fresh lime) and a draft Banks beer of fresh Mojito at Careenage bar or more sophisticated offerings from Chef Denis Jacques Lartigue. A recent dinner in the Grille began with Cauliflower Panna Cotta with Seruga Caviar;Grilled raddicchio wedges and Butternut squash puree, Medallion of Bison tenderloin with maple sauce with specially selected wines for each course followed by Chocolate and star anise cream cake and Chocolate fritters.

Other options include 24 hour room service, the Lighthouse Terrace for casual buffet or ala carte dining and the Water's Edge Pool Bar for drinks and snacks.

The history of the area in close proximity is rich. General Manager Marilyn Soper enjoyed pointing out that George Washington's only trip abroad was to Barbados. He stayed nearby. The purpose of the trip was for medical care here was superior to hospitals in the American colonies. Exploring the area on foot is a rewarding experience. The lighthouse still stands on the grounds. Also found on Need ham Point a fort and a cemetery from the same era.

Coconut Court Beach Resort

The hotel's cordial atmosphere and care for the environment enhance the guest's experience and it shows in the details. Endangered sea turtles nest on its restored beachfront.
