Veteran guitarist Ricardo Silveira barely acknowledging the audience during an intensely introspective set, highly influenced by the rhythms of his native Brazil where he lives and records in particular bossa nova. he 90 minute set featured Silveira’s highly regarded latest release ‘Outro Rio’ (Another River), a follow up to his grammy nominated ‘Noite Clara’. Trio compositions figure prominantly on the recording and he was joined by Romulo Gomes on Bass and Andre Tandeta on drums both of whom participate on Outro Rios. Silveira notes on his website - www.ricardosilveira.com:
"I play from a Brazilian point of view, but not traditional Brazilian music. There are elements of funk and jazz, but I don't like to say that I play fusion. I'm just a musician that likes a lot of different kinds of music and I feel it's great to have those musical worlds to explore". he states on his website.
Harrison improvised through his set backed by a budding New Orleans jazz quartet. He was joined by Guianese traditional drummers on a Mardi Gras standard finale to close the festival.
