| Kekele - Live at SOBs -
Summer 2006 |

Kékélé's most
recent release, "Kinavana" is one of the most successful recent recorded
examples of the strong cultural connections between Cuban and Congolese
musics. Their most recent U.S. tour, which took them across the
country including a return to New York at SOBs, allowed the Congolese
all-star group to showcase numbers from this Cuban/Congo synthesis,
along with hits from their first two releases, "Rumba Congo" (2001) and
"Congo Life" (2003). During their performance, the band played the
following songs during their two sets. Song colors refer to their
respective albums. Set One: 1.
Baninga, 2.
Delali, 3.
Lili, 4.
Fungola Motema, 5.
Lolita, 6.
Tubela, 7.
Dido.
Set Two: 1. Yoka Biso,
2. Mandoyi, 3.
Ponton La Belle,
4. Affaire Mokuwa,
5. Kubola, 6.
Issake Shango. |
