Prince Diabate playing kora

Prince Diabate is a leading Kora player of his generation and is from a Malinké family from Guinea, West
Africa.  He combines the traditions of Manden music with modern fusion, including reggae, rap, blues and funk.  During Prince Diabate's performance at Nuits d'Afrique his emphasis was on entertaining the crowd rather than focusing on the purity of the his Manden traditions.  He has recently included the music of the Wassolou in his repertoire and on select pieces will play on the kamelen n'goni.  Prince Diabate has created a refreshing, modern version of Manden music rich with external musical influences.  He is touring with his group and expects to be on the East Coast in April and May.  Details can be found on his
website at: www.princediabate.com
